Gao Jixi, the Chief Scientist of the Satellite Environmental Application Centre of the Ministry of Ecology and Environment, has been engaged in environmental ecology research for a long time. He has established a comprehensive theory system for the regional ecology and published the first monograph, Regional Ecology, which systematically elaborates the theories, models and methods of regional ecology. He was the first to propose the concept of the Ecological Conservation Redlines (ECRs), which has become a major strategy for national ecological civilization. He presided and completed the program of the top-level design of national ECRs, which was selected for the "Celebration of the 70th Anniversary of the Founding of the People's Republic of China Large-Scale Achievement Exhibition". He also proposed the "Five platforms" collaborative remote sensing system for ecological and environment monitoring which has strongly promoted the comprehensive monitoring of the ecology and environment.
