Dr. Kostas BISCHINIOTIS

Publisher of Elsevier’s Remote Sensing journals

Kostas graduated from Aristotle University of Thessaloniki, Greece, with a degree in Civil Engineering and obtained his MSc in Hydraulic Engineering from TU Delft, the Netherlands. In 2020, he earned his PhD from the Institute of Environmental Studies (IVM) at VU Amsterdam, the Netherlands, specializing in Disaster Risk Management of Natural Hazards. Throughout his career, he has authored 9 papers in leading scientific journals, secured 3 grants, mentored students, and organized sessions at conferences and symposiums globally. Collaborating with esteemed organizations like the World Bank and the Red Cross, he aimed to amplify the societal impact of his research. In 2020, he was appointed to lead the Environmental Science and Technology portfolio at Elsevier, overseeing prestigious journals including RSE, JAG, ISPRS Ph&RS. Kostas brings extensive expertise in academic journal establishment, management, and author-editor training to his role.
