Yongsung studies the ways that contemporary trends in society interact with land use/urban form in cities. His recent research focuses on the increasing presence of college-educated young adults, widespread adoption and continued evolving of shared mobility services, and changes in the socioeconomic status of residents in central cities. He examines the implications of these social trends to environmental sustainability and social equity. He earned BS and MS in Architecture at Seoul National University, Korea, an MUP at the University of Illinois at Urbana-Champaign, and a Ph.D. in City and Regional Planning at the Georgia Institute of Technology. Prior to joining the University of Hong Kong, he conducted research on emerging mobility services and technology as a post-doctoral fellow at the Georgia Institute of Technology.
