The content of Workshop A and B is the same. Workshop A will be held at day time while Workshop B will be held in the evening. Each workshop will have two parts (Part I and Part II) and an optional discussion session.

About the Speaker:

Dr. K.W. Axhausen is Professor of Transport Planning at the Eidgenössische Technische Hochschule (ETH) Zürich. Before he worked at the Leopold-Franzens Universität, Innsbruck, Imperial College London and the University of Oxford. He has been involved in the measurement and modelling of travel behaviour for the past 35 years contributing especially to the literature on stated preferences, micro-simulation of travel behaviour, accessibility, valuation of travel time and its components, parking behaviour, activity scheduling and travel diary data collection. Current work focuses on the agent-based micro-simulation toolkit MATSim (see www.matsim.org )


Abstract:

This hands-on workshop will explore the different methods to explore transport related decisions using attendant-chosen examples. They could be: mode choice in the presence of new services, shopping location choice, design of mobility hubs, etc. After a brief introduction into the range of approaches, the workshop will focus on the design of possible surveys.


Registration and Fee:

This workshop is free of charge! Places are limited & prior registration is required. Priority will be given to Geography students, MATPP students, ITS Student Fellows and students with relevant study background. Each participant attending the entire workshop (minimum: Part I and II) will be awarded a Certificate of Attendance. For MATPP students, this workshop is not credit-bearing but it will count towards the seminar requirement of GEOG7011.
